Help For Heroes Go Live

Updated: Apr 2, 2023

After two previous live streamed events Help for Heroes, the armed forces charity, contacted us again to help stage and broadcast their 2019 Internal Virtual Conference.

The conference was designed to be a mixture of pre recorded content, produced by their excellent in-house Videographer Joe Gower, and live content from a mock studio that we would set up.

Help For Heroes have a very experienced team but most hadn't worked in a multi-camera environment or live streamed on this scale before.

We worked with their in-house Videographer, Event Planner and Comms team to plan the broadcast and ensure it was deliverable technically and would deliver their important messages.

The venue chosen was Tedworth House in Tidworth which is visually stunning but due to their limited broadband connectivity, and the terrible 4G coverage in the area, we provided our own dedicated internet connection by way of an external satellite dish.

The three camera broadcast incorporated videos, slides and titles and was broadcast with a team of just two via a bonded LiveU encoder.

In addition to the broadcasting we also provided stream hosting and created a bespoke page for the event. See an example of this here. Password is letmein

Due to the nature of the internal content we can only share a short extract here.

Help for Heroes had never professionally streamed on this scale before but very quickly adapted to the ways we worked. They loved the live experience and really embraced it. The broadcast was viewed by hundreds of their staff all over the country and this not only saved them money bringing everyone together it was also much more eco friendly.

We look forward to supporting them on future events.

“At Help for Heroes we don’t have the resources to live stream our staff conference internally and StreamWorks were fundamental in dealing with the technical challenges of a live broadcast. They gave solutions to problems and allayed our concerns with examples. Nothing was too much trouble for them, including adding last-minute content. We really enjoyed working with them and would definitely work with them again" - Mel Waters - CEO - Help For Heroes
